Bob Ross Themed Flash Mob At A Texas Middle School

About 50 middle school students in Abilene, Texas, had fun painting “happy little trees” last week when their art teacher helped them stage “Flash Bob Flash Mob Day.” At the event, kids donned curly wigs, blue shirts and jeans to approximate the signature style of PBS painting-show legend Bob Ross. They then took to the stage at Madison Middle School to paint along to an episode of Ross’ The Joy of Painting while using music stands as makeshift easels. “I wanted to find a way to reward them in a way that also continued enrichment in the program,” art teacher Brady Sloane told The Abilene Reporter News. “He’s a part of art history, right? The excitement the students feel when they realize this is an educational experience and a fun experience at the same time is just wonderful to watch.”
