‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Tops Box Office With $56.5 Million

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes dominated the box office, earning $56.5 million in its first weekend and $72.5 million overseas, totaling $129 million globally. This film is the fourth entry in the rebooted Planet Of The Apes series that started in 2011 with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, starring James Franco and Andy Serkis. The movie had a production cost of $160 million, not including marketing, which is lower compared to the previous two installments. The Fall Guy, which led last week upon its debut, came in a distant second this time with $13.7 million. Challengers remained at No. 3 with $4.6 million, while Tarot grabbed fourth place with $3.4 million in its second weekend. Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire rounded out the top five with $2.5 million.
