Joe Walsh announced that ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit have signed on to perform at Vets Aid 2019. The artists will join Wash on November 10th, 2019, on the eve of Veterans Day, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Walsh launched his national 501(c)3 non-profit veterans organization on September 20th, 2017 with an inaugural concert at Fairfax, Virginia’s EagleBank Arena. The second annual concert event, which took place on Veterans Day (November 11th) 2018 at Tacoma, Washington’s Tacoma Dome, featured Walsh, fellow Eagle Don Henley, brother-in-law Ringo Starr, James Taylor, Chris Stapleton, and Haim.
Walsh, who grew up part of a Gold Star family, said in the press release for the event: “It’s about time we brought VetsAid down to Texas and who better to share the stage with than my old buddies and Houston’s own ZZ Top! With Brad, Sheryl, Jason and more special guests to be announced joining us too this will be yet another historic night of incredible music for our vets. This is a night where all are welcome to celebrate the things that unite us as Americans: good friends, open hearts and great music!”
Joe Walsh told us about the realities of being part of a Gold Star family: “I’m actually a Gold Star kid. My dad was actually killed in the Army Air Corps. I was born in ’47, he was killed in ’49, and so I kinda grew up without a dad. I eventually got a stepdad, who I love and who’s always had my back. But, my first six years of being alive I was dad-less. I always wondered what he was like and I alw. . . Y’know, I didn’t have anybody to play catch with or any kind of father figure until my stepfather came along.”
The Eagles are set to perform their 1976 Hotel California album in its entirety over three nights in Las Vegas.
The band will be performing the 26-times platinum album — plus other favorites — on September 27th and 28th, and October 5th at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The shows will mark the Eagles’ only North American dates of 2019.
