Eddie Murphy Has Started ‘Shrek 5,’ Says Donkey Spinoff Coming After

Eddie Murphy revealed that he started voice recording for Shrek 5 “months ago” and confirmed that a Donkey spinoff movie is also in the works. Universal and DreamWorks Animation had previously announced plans for the projects, but their progress was unclear. “I started recording ‘Shrek,’ I think it’s coming out in 2025,” Murphy confirmed to Collider in a new interview. “And we’re doing a Donkey one next.” The Shrek franchise, which released four films between 2001 and 2010, was a huge success for DreamWorks Animation, grossing hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide and even competing for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
