Kevin Smith Finally Regained Control Of ‘Dogma’ From Harvey Weinstein

Kevin Smith’s iconic 1999 comedy, Dogma, will soon receive a re-release in theaters and be available for streaming for the first time, as the director has finally secured the rights to the film after years of it being “held hostage” by its one-time owner, Harvey Weinstein. Planning to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie in 2025, Smith also envisions a potential expansion of the Dogma universe through sequels and possible TV projects, likely even involving original cast members. Smith had long expressed frustration over the Weinsteins repeatedly rejecting his attempts to regain the rights — including turning down a $1 million offer from him. (COS)
