NFL Sets Record With Average 21 million Viewers Per Game In Week 1

The NFL announced on Wednesday that the Week 1 match-ups drew an average of 21 million viewers per game, setting a new viewership record for the opening-week slate. A total of 123 million viewers tuned in to NFL games, marking the highest total audience for a Week 1 slate since 2019. The average viewership per game, including TV and digital platforms, saw a 12% increase compared to 2023 and stands as the highest on record. Additionally, Sunday afternoon games on CBS and Fox averaged 18.4 million viewers, the highest since 2016. The Monday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets became the most-watched Week 1 Monday Night Football meeting since 2000, with an average of 20.4 million viewers across ABC, ESPN+, and ESPN2.
