A Columbus man was arrested last week after a standoff with the Columbus and Bartholomew County SWAT team at a home.

According to reports from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the 11000 block of North County Road 400W Friday to investigate a domestic battery with substantial bodily injury, that involved a firearm.
Deputies discovered that 40-year-old Jeremiah Burris had violated a pre-trial release agreement for an original charge of failing to register as a sex offender and for invasion of privacy.
Search and arrest warrants were issued but Burris barricaded himself inside the home. The SWAT team was called in and negotiators worked to end the standoff. Burris was taken into custody on the warrants.
A search of the home found suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.
The domestic battery investigation is ongoing.
