Local authorities partner with Humane Society for animal crimes training

Bartholomew County law enforcement and other authorities have received training from the Humane Society on investigating crimes against animals.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, deputies along with officers from the Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Animal Control, Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office staff and members of the Bartholomew County Humane Society received the training Wednesday.

The sheriff’s department says this is the first time such training has been held in Indiana. It was organized by Sheriff Chris Lane and Prosecutor Lindsey Holden-Kay, to provide additional training and education into animal crime investigations.
